watching the time go the second HAND IS MOVING TOO FAST - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
cailynn's light footsteps padded across her cabin as she danced, humming softly as she closed her eyes and twirled around. the song 'you found me' by the fray could be heard playing from the speakers in the corner of the room. her moves were fluid and graceful as she danced from her heart. before she had even considered dancing, she had locked the door to the cabin and closed all of the blinds. it was a habit of her's, because she just didn't let other people watch her in action. dancing was like her secret getaway from the world. she had never competed or taken lessons, and she didn't ever feel the need to. she never rehearsed regularly or practiced moves either, because each dance was different and incorporated how she felt at the moment. she put her soul on her sleeve when she was dancing, and that was too private for anyone else to witness.
cailynn was always trying to figure people out. in her eyes, everyone was like a rock, and something beautiful lay under the surface of the stone. she made it her duty to unravel the mysteries of other people's lives and chip away at the granite until she was able to see the diamond or ruby that had once been hidden. after that it was just a matter of polishing the gem until it sparkled. she was good at what she did, but some rocks were tougher than others and took longer to crack. she herself was one of those really thick rocks that seemed unbreakable, but not many people knew that. to others, she was as open as they came. she was always happy and smiling and she seemed like she was simply one of those genuinely joyous people who didn't have a single problem in life. she liked to think of herself that way, but she knew that her gem had more dents and scratches than most.
some may call it naive and some may call it sweet, but cailynn was one of those types who believed that there weren't any bad people in the world. maybe she had just been so successful with finding the good in others that she had forgotten that there wasn't always going to be someone nice underneath. maybe she was just so tired of being hurt time after time that she was unwilling to admit that there were still people out there who could hurt her again. those were both possibilities as to why she refused to see the evil in others, but then there was the truth. she was afraid. so many bad things had happened to her in her lifetime that she wanted to believe that there was something out there that wasn't bad. if people weren't bad, then all the bad things that happened were merely accidents. she needed something to cling onto so she could believe that not everything in the world was horrible.
as she continued to dance, a sharp ringing sound came from her computer and she tripped in surprise, yelping as she fell onto the floor. "stupid weak ankles" she mumbled, rubbing her left foot and standing up carefully. picking up the books she had knocked over when she stumbled, she piled them against the oak wall and walked over to her bed, collapsing backwards onto it. grabbing her laptop, she stared at the screen for a moment until she remembered what she had been doing earlier. she smiled when she saw that asher had replied to her message in the white orchard camp chatroom. signing off of her computer and shutting it down, she walked over to the dresser located on the east wall of the cabin.
they had agreed to be rebels together and skip the next activity block, if not the rest of the day at camp. she was really looking forwards to it, actually. it would be nice to make a new friend, and it was also a plus that she got to miss arts and crafts. making things out of popsicle sticks and elmer's glue wasn't exactly her idea of fun. sifting through her drawers, she finally pulled out a yellow bikini with pink bows on the sides of the bottoms and in the middle of the top piece. changing into it, she slid on ripped jean shorts that showed off her legs and a light blue tanktop to cover up so she didn't look suspicious. putting sunscreen, a towel, and a few other things into her tote bag, she put on a pair of rainbow flip flops and headed out the door.
hiding behind a tall bush as a few counselors strolled by, she darted out of the sight of nearby campers and hid behind palm trees as she made her way to the beach. part of her knew that it really wouldn't make a difference if she was seen or not and they probably wouldn't care, but it made her feel adventurous and sneaky to act like this was a life or death situation. she laughed at herself as she finally reached palm beach and looked around. her jaw dropped and she set down her things slowly, kicking off her shoes and walking to the shore, letting the waves lap around her ankles as sand sunk under her feet. it was beautiful. "wow" she whispered under her breath, taking in all of the scenery. australia was gorgeous, but you rarely saw this kind of beach there.
she finally got over her shock and wandered up and down the beach, looking around as the hot sun pounded down on her bare shoulders. she kept an eye out for asher, though she wasn't exactly sure of what he looked like. she had most likely seen him around at some point, though. she just didn't know it. tucking a strand of light blonde hair behind her ear, she took off her white sunglasses and tossed them at her tote bag, wading out into the water and putting her hands on her thin hips. she began singing quietly. "watching the time go, the second hand is moving too fast. who ever thought it ever really ever would last?" she heard footsteps and turned around, looking over her shoulder. "hello? asher?" she called out, her strong australian accent standing out. she smiled brightly, playful and happy.

"that's impossible!"
asher exclaimed out of disbelief. his green (at the moment) eyes were guided down the cards that his cabin mate, leon, just laid onto the table. if you guessed that the boys were playing a rousing game of poker then you are absolutely right. asher started off with a winning streak, but his luck must have ran out after he bet it all and then some. there was no way in hell that leon could have gotten a royal flush. it didn't make since. asher was about to call his mate out on it when the pocket of his cargo pants erupted in a series of vibrates signaling that he had a messages from the white orchard chat room. he had been talking to a girl named cailynn that he had seen around camp. they discussed the possibility of skipping the next activity block to go to the beach. he liked the idea of lying out in the sun with a pretty girl more than going to hip hop class. he wasn't too keen on that particular class because he wasn't a very good dancer. the teacher, teegan, was cute and so were a few girls in there, but he didn't feel like making a fool out of himself once again. "hold it right there." he commanded sternly as he fished his phone out of his pants pocket. he noticed that the message was indeed from cailynn. he confirmed the beach meeting and quickly scanned his cabin, he was sure that he wouldn't need anything considering he was still in his black board shorts from this mornings trip to the beach (he was there a lot). a smirk appeared on his handsome face as he noticed his friends' phones didn't vibrate or anything so obviously they weren't logged into the chat room. they wouldn't know of his bearings, so he could easily escape there. dropping his phone back into his front pocket of his swim trunks, asher rose from his seat at the fold out table and stretched his arms above his head. "sorry to cut this short boys, but my presence is needed somewhere else." he said in a suave voice that gave no hint that he was up to something. in one swift motion, asher scooped up all the money that was in the middle of the table and bolted out of the screen door. he knew that his cabin mates would follow in protest, so he traveled up into the edges of the forest. the cabin he stayed in was the closest to the woods, so he used this to his advantage. moving swiftly threw a trail that he created last year, he finally emerged from the forest and was at his destination - palm beach. he noticed that it was basically deserted do to the other activities go on at the moment. asher smirked as he saw a small body wading through the water. he was sure that it was cailynn, even though he could only see the back of the girl. asher pulled his green t-shirt over his head and dropped into onto the sand. painstakingly, he removed all of the change and bills from the pockets of his shorts along with his blue blackberry and hide it all inside of his short. after his pockets were emptied, he jogged down to the shore to be greeted with beautiful singing. the girl looked over her shoulder obviously hearing his approach. hello? asher? her voice couldn't sound any more lovely. the australian accent made her sound even more exotic and alluring. her smile made him feel a stirring in his body which he quickly ignored. he sent his an assuring smile along with a small wave. "hi. nice to meet you in person." he said cheerfully, as he slowly made his way into the blue water. "i'm asher hewitt," he greeted and held out a hand for her to shake. STATUS: finished. cailynn's large chocolate brown orbs lit up when she laid eyes on asher. she instantly realized that she did indeed recognize him, though she couldn't quite remember if they had any activities together. they probably did, but she would have expected to at least know his name by now. then again, she had been kind of out of it these past few days, trying to adjust to camp life and make new friends. she returned the wave, trying to jog through the water and laughing at herself when she nearly fell over. meeting him as he waded out into the ocean to where she was, she offered him a wide smile. "g'day, nice to meet you as well. i do think i've seen you around before, actually. anyways, this should be much more fun than typing messages into a computer" she says, looking around at their surroundings.
when asher reached out his hand to shake her's, cailynn raised an eyebrow, staring at his hand and then up at his face almost hesitantly. then, realizing she might have come off as rude or arrogant, she took his hand with her's and shook it. she broke into a toothy grin, looking apologetic. "i'm sorry, that was just me being a dork. i personally prefer to be a little more casual" she explained, leaning closer and hugging him as if to prove her point. when she let the embrace linger for a few seconds longer than she would have normally, she blushed scarlet red and pulled away, stepping backwards and losing her footing. she gasped and was suddenly surrounded by cool, salty water.
looking up at asher, she stood up and shifted uncomfortably in her now soaking wet clothes. she couldn't help but giggle, her cheeks burning. "that didn't go exactly how i planned. i also prefer to be a little less clumbsy. sorry for splashing you," she smirked. wringing out her hair, she stretched and slid off her shorts, pulling her tank top off over her head and tossing them onto the shore so that she was in her bikini. glancing down at her exposed stomach, she suddenly felt self conscious. not about how she wished she could lose weight like most girls would be, but about how she was too thin. she prayed that he wouldn't notice, but the chances of that were slim. she was getting skinnier everyday.
it all started a little over two years ago, when she was fifteen. or maybe before that, but her health really went downhill from there. she had just gotten out of rehabilitation since she had gotten weak from having cancer and it was sometime around new year's eve. her brother chase had gone to the store to get some groceries and on the way home he was hit by a drunk driver and killed. that had really torn her apart and she gradually started eating less and less. she wasn't really sure why, though. maybe she just wanted to have control over something in her life, so she knew that something would stay the same. it was a lame excuse and she hated being underweight, but she wasn't really sure how to change what she had made solid.
shaking her head, she snapped out of her trance and smiled at asher again. she looked up at the sun, trying to hide the fact that she had gotten a little teary eyed. he probably thought she was some type of freak now. she sighed, hoping she hadn't blown it. "so... what do you want to do?" she asked curiously, splashing him again and diving into the water. she beamed and spun around, floating on her back and attempting to tan. It was pretty funny that she was so pale. she decided that she wanted to have fun today and that the past was the past. nothing was going to get in the way of her getting to know asher.

g'day, nice to meet you as well. i do think i've seen you around before, actually. anyways, this should be much more fun than typing messages into a computer. asher laughed at her words. he enjoyed hearing her speak in her thick australian accent. he thought it was so interesting to be able to talk with one. his voice was so boring, so american - however, he did have a hint of a texas accent, since it was where he originated, and an english one because of his father possessing a very thick one. it was hard to tell unless he spoke a lot to a person, or when he was tired his southern drawl came out a little more than usual. asher let out a slight chuckle in agreement to her last sentence. he was much more charming in person as he liked to think, so he preferred talking face-to-face with a person. though, he did text and instant message frequently.
asher noticed the look present on cailynn's attractive face. it was similar to ones that he saw on some of the higher-class campers and their families that carried the holier-than-thou attitude. he had worn the same look many times, but her's seemed to be more questioning then 'i'm hot shit.' i'm sorry, that was just me being a dork. i personally prefer to be a little more casual. asher let out a sigh of relief. she hadn't come across stuck-up or anything which was good considering that he was sick of those kind of people. "good, because i do too." he said, leaning in to hug her. asher was a hugger, his whole family is in fact. usually when he hugged a girl, it wasn't as chaste as the one he was sharing with cailynn. it was short, but he couldn't help to notice they way that they fit so nicely together and that she was a lot skinnier than he thought.
when she pulled away, asher let his eyes flicker up to the beach to make sure that no one had disturbed his belongings, but they quickly shifted back when he heard a splash along with cool water hitting his chest. cailynn resurfaced dripping wet which didn't help with asher's thoughts. the wet look was good on her, not too many people could pull it off. that didn't go exactly how i planned. i also prefer to be a little less clumsy. sorry for splashing you, he thought it was cute that she was embarrassed by a little trip. it was cute. "don't fret, i needed to cool off a little anyway." asher wasn't expecting her to strip off his wet clothing (which he could see through anyway) and toss it aside. dirty thoughts flooded his head and he tried his best to push them away. as he was subtly taking in every inch of her, he noticed that she seemed a little distant and her eyes appeared glassy. he was about to ask if she was okay, when she livened up and splashed him once again. so... what do you want to do? asher must have really out of it since she was now on her back looking quite delicious. her current position gave him a good view of the front of her. she was very thin, but attractive - there was no denying that.
" well....then is the obvious swimming or we could lie out and chat. "
he suggested, as he paused to think of something else. he was content with whatever they did. "or maybe even build the most amazing sand castle ever?"STATUS: finished.
